DRDT-2, Primer and Cleco Gun arrive - Trip to Sears and Harbor Freight
My DRDT-2 from Experimental Aero arrived today. This one cool looking tool! Why did I buy a DRDT-2, check out my Tools page to find out more. On the way home from work I stopped at Sears and Harbor Freight to pick up a few things. I’m still waiting on the rest of my tools… this is killing me.
60 pounds shipping weight, but packed extremely well.
It took about 10-15 minutes to assemble. When my dimple dies arrive I will try it out on some scrap.
The AFS Water based 1-Part Primer/Sealer, Aluminum Etch/Cleaner, and viscosity cup were also delivered today. Why did I choose AFS products, and what am I going to prime? See my primer page for more info.
A pnuematic cleco tool I bought from The Yard. For only $25, I couldn't resist.
On the way home from work I stopped at Sears and Harbor Freight to pick up a few things. Here is the Fly-Cutter I picked up at Sears. I am not too impressed with the quality of it, so I am not sure if I will keep it, but it (or one like it) will be used to cut lightening holes in the Vertical Stabilizer stiffener.
Here is the HVLP Detail Spray gun ($55) I got from Harbor Freight, which will be used for shooting primer. Many other builders have said the HF HVLP Conversion guns are good for just that purpose, and it doesn’t require high CFMs like the regular sized guns. I also picked up a cheap ($10) soldering iron for removing vinyl from the skins, and a digital instant read thermometer ($5)… ok, that is for the BBQ not the RV-7.
