Began Aft Fuse Riveting
Today I clecoed the aft fuselage back together and began riveting. Unfortunately I ran into some small issues when I riveted the F-712 Bulkhead to the F-779 Tail Bottom Skin.
I clecoed the skins and bulkheads back together, less the F-779 Tail Bottom Skin and F-711 and F-712 Bulkheads.
I then clecoed the F-712 Bulkhead to the F-779 Skin and squeezed the rivets holding the aft flange of the bulkhead to the skin. Upon close inspection of the rivets I noticed that the shop heads on several of the rivets didn't cover the dimples completely, leaving a bit of the edge of the dimple exposed. It is hard to see in this picture, but you may notice it on the top edge of the far left rivet. I am not sure, but I think this was caused by the fact that the fit in this area is horrible, and some of the holes became enlarged slightly during the drilling process, leading to dimples that are slightly larger than normal. At this point I am not sure what I am going to do about it, but I have my concerns about the strength of these rivets as the tailwheel mount is connected to this bulkhead. Rather than deal with this now, I called it quits for the night and I will think about what I want to do here.
