Left Bottom Skins - Day 5

Back at the skin riveting again. I can't believe this is my 5th night working at this, but with the baby, I really don't get long sessions in the shop. Besides, I am doing all this riveting solo, and it takes a while to get set up for each rivet. It certainly would be more efficient and easier with a riveting partner, but I am making progress so I can't complain.

If you are reading this and are thinking of riveting yours solo, I wish I had some suggestions or techniques to share, but I don't. Try to get help, but if you must go it alone be patient and take your time. It isn't pleasant, but it can be done.

I started the outboard skin tonight, and with a few days of experience under my belt, the outboard skin is going a lot smoother and quicker than the inboard. I think I will be able to knock this one out in about two sessions.

My rope and pulley system seems to work pretty well. There were a few rivets I couldn't reach solo, but only a few, and I will have my buddy come over in a few days and help with those.

After about 2 hours I was halfway down with the outboard skin. My back was screaming at me by now and it was getting a little late to rivet, so I called it quits for the night.
