Back from Vacation

My wife and I just got back from a trip to Hawaii. We spent four days on Kauai and four days on Maui. We had a great time, but all good things must end. I still have some underwater pictures to develop, but here are a few shots of from my digital camera. Next week, I am off to Oshkosh (Airventure) for a few days... I can't wait!

A view of the Na Pali Coast on the North Shore of Kauai.

We took and airplane ride, in a Maule, around Kauai. It was a lot of fun, and the view out the window was amazing.

The Na Pali Coast from the air. A few days later I took a zodiac boat trip around Kauai to see Na Pali from the water. That was quite the adventure as we motored 36 miles around the island darting in and out of sea caves and playing with a large pod of spinner dolphins that came over to the boat to check us out. To give you a sense of scale here, the white stripe in the water just left of center and at the base of the cliffs is the wake from a boat.

After Kauai, it was time to relax by the pool in Maui. Now where did that cabana-girl go? I need another Mai Tai.

A Maui sunset as seen from the deck of a restaurant.

We drove up to the top of Haleakala Crater (10,023').

On the flight home from Maui the sunset was amazing. The picture doesn't do it justice but the sky turned from blood red to deep blue.
